Manohara Odelia Pinot yesterday appointed a Malaysian lawyer in her adamance to drag her ‘abusive’ royal husband to court.

“The family has today officially appointed a lawyer from Malaysia...and this shows that we are being serious with the allegations against Manohara’s husband,” legal adviser Hotman Paris Hutapea reportedly said in Jakarta last night.

The news portal said Manohara, an Indonesian national, is considering three forms of actions: criminal prosecution, a civil suit and a divorce application.

Manohara’s Malaysian lawyer Mohamed Zaini Mazlan said that he is “not afraid” of representing her, adding that judicial proceedings are “very independent”.

“Although we have a special court for kings and sultans, no one is above the law. Anyone who is found guilty should be held responsible,” he said.

Manohara, a former teen model, had made a dramatic escape from him while when the Kelantan royal family was in Singapore on April 20 to visit the sultan, who was being treated for a heart ailment.

Since Manohara’s return to her family in Jakarta and went public with her claims of sexual and physical abuse against her husband, she has been in the media spotlight on a daily basis,
