A total of 41 statements have been recorded from witnesses in respect of a brawl between two royal houses at two different places in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 24 last year, Attorney General Abdul Gani Patail said today.

He said that care and caution must be properly exercised in arriving at a just decision in charging any party.

"Therefore the investigation paper has to be thoroughly studied and I will not hesitate to announce my decision once it is done," Abdul Gani said in a statement.

The investigation paper was first submitted to the Chambers on Nov 18, 2008 and after being studied by my officers it was returned to the police on Dec 1, 2008 for further investigations, he said.

"It was subsequently resubmitted yesterday, Sept 16, 2009 to the Prosecution's Office Kuala Lumpur and to me today," Abdul Gani added.

"Nevertheless there have been an ongoing advice and contact between the police and my officers," Abdul Gani said.

He added that in the meantime he was made to understand that there were attempts to resolve this matter amicably between the royal houses.

"However, this does not in any way stop police from carrying out the necessary investigation in respect of any criminal offence that could have taken place and the Chambers should and ought not to be used as a tool to facilitate any kind of settlement done privately.

Earlier today the grandson of the late Negeri Sembilan Yang Di Pertuan Besar Tunku Nadzimuddin Tunku Mudzaffar claimed that he was assaulted by a member of the Johor royal household.

He claimed that the police had failed to act to take prompt actions against his attackers.
