A sex accessories store is crying foul over a news report by a local Malay tabloid which published a photo showing a school uniform clad female student browsing in the outlet.
Store manager Lee Kok Wee claimed that the student was actually one of the three reporters credited for the story , published on the March 9 edition of Kosmo!.
"They impersonated a student (

) and took pictures of the store without permission," he said when contacted.
Lee, who did not want his store to be named, told Malaysiakini that he was upset because the photograph had implied that under-aged patrons were allowed into the outlet.
It had created the impression that the store was being unethical.
"We are very strict, only people above the age of 18 can enter. In fact we are even stricter than 7-Eleven because anyone can enter 7-Eleven," he said.
He also refuted the report which claimed that pills were being sold there.
"We have our own store and we are not so foolish to sell illegal pills in our outlet," he explained.
Lee said that there is a high likelihood he will take legal action against the tabloid.
‘ Honest business'
In reaction to the report, the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students (PKPIM) released a statement yesterday calling on the government to take action against such stores.
Its secretary Khairul Anuar Musa (

added that such outlets will cause moral decay among teenagers and promote free sex.
Lee, who acknowledged that religion may have played a role in the reaction, said: "Our shop is only for people who are 18 years and above, that means only mature people can go in."
"We are doing a honest business and we are promoting safe sex.We sell condoms, lubricant, vibrators according to the law, we do not sell pornography," he added.
He also stressed that it was better for youngsters to receive sex education rather than go online to explore the subject.
