Swing behind the BN symbol, Felda settlers urged
Prime Minister Najib Razak urged voters in Hulu Selangor, especially Felda settlers, to fully support the BN during the April 25 by-election.
Prime Minister Najib Razak urged voters in Hulu Selangor, especially Felda settlers, to fully support the BN during the April 25 by-election.
The BN chairperson and Umno president said their support was crucial for the coalition to regain the seat.
"If BN wins with the support of the people, it will give the government added impetus to bring about bigger changes," said Najib when launching Yayasan Kelana Ehsan (YKE) at Felda Sungai Tengi near Kuala Kubu Bahru today.
Najib said the government was committed to fulfilling all the promises made and the federal government had never failed to safeguard the welfare of the people, especially those in Felda settlements.
"For Felda, we have given many incentives and there is more to come. So, come April 25, come out and give your full support for the betterment of the people and YKE," he said.
Both sides of the political fence have been campaigning ahead of the crucial by-election despite warnings from the Election Commission not to do so until nomination day on April 17.
Whoever the candidate doesn’t matter
Najib said no matter who the candidate was, the people should be focused, basically on the BN symbol.
"The BN symbol is the main factor. The BN is me as the prime minister, and I will study the candidate before making a choice.
"This constituency belonged to us before and I want to ensure a bigger victory to send a clear message," he said.
He added that Umno, MCA and MIC would work closely to ensure victory.
"Among Umno, MCA and MIC, we have an understanding because the end result should be a victory for BN. This is the objective from before, even since Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Razak's era and I can accept what we have inherited.
"The former leaders have laid the foundation for the country and we must be wise to choose the candidate, for the good of the country," he said.
