Rasa folk lauded for ignoring RM3 mil carrot

Lavender Lim: Why disregard the money when the politicians wanted to "serve" the community by pledging and subsequently contributing the RM3 million for repair work of the SRJK(C) Rasa, which was in very bad condition.

After all, the contribution was from government and for the benefit of the local community not any individual. The pledge should be viewed much better than luring the voters to vote with a promise or giving land titles to individuals.

Disgusted: I doubt if Pakatan takes over federal government, it will not take care of schools, hospitals, roads, etc, in constituencies which had voted against them and controlled by the opposition. We should change this trend of political bribery or money politics once and for all.

Change the federal government and give Pakatan a chance to prove that they can treat all Malaysians fairly, irrespective of who they support.

Confused: What's RM3 million really worth? Exactly nothing. No amount of money can ever buy a person's principles, soul and integrity. Especially not for that meager sum. What is RM3 million compared to the billions that they have embezzled?

Blame game has started in PKR

Gandhi: Many of the state assemblypersons and MPs of PKR are first timers and are unclear of the ways to get closer to the rakyat. It's natural to think they have got some power and want to enjoy it. Can't blame them as the well-established BN YBs have shown how to be arrogant.

But Pakatan Rakyat should show a completely different attitude and come down their high horses and be close to the people. They must know by now that the power is with the people. Pakatan has seen the fall of BN politicians because of their arrogance and dishonesty. Anyway, teething problems will be in any new organisation but could easily overcome by leaders such as Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang and Nik Aziz Nik Mat.

We take the loss in Hulu Selangor as a lesson to do better in the future. This defeat is actually a boost for greater victories to come. Leaders must listen to the people on the ground and be friendly. There's nothing permanent in politics as Anwar is a terrific example of his rise and fall. Because of his innate leadership skill, he will rise again.

WandererAUS: It is increasing clear that the alliance of PKR, DAP, PAS, and lately joined SAPP, should form a coalition with a centralised control for all elections. To lead the nerve centre, senior and very exprenienced officers should be appointed, based on merits, and not popularity.

The sooner Pakatan is able to sort out their internal problems and coordination among the component parties, the better will be their chances of capturing Petrajaya.

Swaysiao: YB S Manikavasagam, I think you are perfectly right in saying that if the excos behave like federal ministers their days are doomed. The rakyat have chosen them and they should be humble enough and go to the ground without being invited.

Do not go to voters only when you need their votes during election. This apply to all Pakatan MPs and state assemblypersons.

Don't expect Zaid to take it lying down

Jany: Good to learn lessons from defeat. Zaid Ibrahim looks like the man to watch in PKR. He certainly deserves much respect in not claiming monetary damages. That is impressive and sets him apart from the others. I look forward to see this statesman grow and steer the country.

Lonestar: Let he/she who has not sinned cast the first stone. This is still relevant even today. Having given out this warning, it might just be prudent for Zaid to leave it at that and not open the Pandora's box. There might just be too much collateral damage all round. Let him not descend to their level.

Arul Inthirarajah: Zaid should go ahead and expose them. Thus far, these hypocrites have been playing, and will continue to play a dirty game, unless they are exposed for what they truly are. If we don't expose them, there will be a significant number of people who will either believe, or choose to believe, that these politicians are actually as saintly as they would like to make themselves out to be.

And these hypocrites will continue making up lies, doctoring photographs, and slandering the opposition. Go for it, Zaid!

Those who misuse mosques not welcome in S'gor

Playfair: Islam has always stated that it is an all encompassing way of life - a Deen(ad-Din) and masjids are integral part of a Muslims social and religious life. How one filters out what is political and non-political is not easy as it's all a matter of one's perception towards what is under discussion during a khutubah or ceramah .

If someone ‘berceramah' about the evils of corruption and mentions "kepal selam Perancis" as an example - should he stay out of Selangor? We need to respect the sanctity of the mosque but as Muslims we need clarity and flexibility to address these issues. Wassalam.

Mangodurian: On the whole, I agree with the sultan. Places of worship should be kept just as that, although it is hard to keep politics out. For PAS, which advocates a theocracy - of course, they don't feel the mosque and parliament are two different things. Saying that though, it will be much more effective if we are fair to all parties (keep dreaming) by giving air-time to all.
