A website which has been blamed for an article accusing Kajang councillor Lee Kee Hiong of corruption has clarified that it was not responsible for the contents of the report.

NONE The Umno-linked Pembangkang Selangor clarified on its website today that the article entitled ‘Lee Kee Hiong Penjahat Sebenar Dalam DAP’ (Lee Kee Hiong the real culprit in DAP) was from another website connected to Umno, Selangor Daily .

 

Pembangkang Selangor said it “is not responsible for any accusations (against it) by any party, including Lee Kee Hiong”, as it had only carried the article from Selangor Daily as it had “news value”.

“For this reason, our editorial management apologises for any problems faced by Lee Kee Hiong as well as the webmaster of Selangor Daily ,” said Pembangkang Selangor on its website today.

NONE In the Sept 1 article, Kee Hiong ( right, in red ) was accused of having hatched a plan to fill her party DAP's coffers through corrupt means, including by compelling contractors to mark up invoices for state-funded projects in the Seri Kembangan state constituency.

The article also claimed that Kee Hiong’s uncle had been awarded contracts in many DAP-held constituencies within Selangor.

Kee Hiong has denied the accusations and said the article was meant solely to slander the Pakatan Rakyat state administration.

"They have not achieved anything politically in the country and in Selangor so they have to resort to dirty tactics to tarnish my name," said Kee Hiong, who is also Selangor DAP education director, a post she has held since 2003.

Lee challenged

Selangor Daily , meanwhile, has stood its ground against Lee - who yesterday lodged a police report over the matter - and challenged her to clarify whether or not one of the contractors implicated in the corruption allegations, Lee Wye Wing, is in fact her uncle.

“We also challenge LKH to reveal how many companies linked to LWW received allocations from the state constituency under Selangor DAP, including Kuala Kubu Bharu,” said Selangor Daily .

The website also ticked off Pembangkang Selangor for swiping its “expose” on Kee Hiong without attributing it to the actual source.

“The administrator of Pembangkang Selangor should see how professional the portal managers of MyKMYU.net are in always attributing the sources of their reports,” said Selangor Daily .
