The Shah Alam High Court has fixed Nov 2 for continued submission before a judge on a striking-out application by Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim, over former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo’s defamation suit against him.

This follows today’s application which was heard before a deputy registrar and not a judge.

ng suee lim Ng’s ( right ) lawyer, M Manoharan, said as the deputy registrar cannot make a decision, she has asked that the submissions be made before Justice Nurchaya Arshad.

Manoharan, who is Kota Alam Shah assemblyperson, said Ng had instructed the striking-out application as there had been no further action by Khir, after his client filed his statement of defence sometime in July.

“This showed that Khir is not interested in pursuing the suit further as he has yet to reply on the defence. Following this, we have applied for the suit to be struck out,” he said.

NONE Dr Khir had filed the defamation suit against Ng in January, following the latter’s allegations that a Balinese-style resort home in Shah Alam owned by the former menteri besar had cost RM24 million, an amount far exceeding his income.   

The two had traded barbs in and outside the state assembly over the allegations for the past year.

Ng had also said he will take on Khir’s suit, by appointing Manoharan as his lawyer.

Khir’s mansion had been a subject of attack by Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons and is also a subject of a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigation.
