A snippet from a video clip showing a man resembling Anwar Ibrahim clad in a towel and hugging a woman in a bedroom earned scorn from the opposition leader, who also blasted Umno in a short speech in Kampung Nangka, Sibu, late this evening.

"Now, the video has been distributed. And whether the person looks like me or not, I don't care. It wasn't me," he said of the clip posted on YouTube this afternoon and publicised by pro-BN sites.

"Where's the royal commission of inquiry when (slain Mongolian translator) Altantuya (Shariibuu) was murdered? What about the rape case in Malacca? What's happened to the investigations?" Anwar asked.

One of those who exposed the video three weeks ago was former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik, who, together with businessman Shazryl Eskay Ibrahim and Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim, later admitted to be behind the exposé.

Rahim - one of Anwar's political nemesis back in the 80s - resigned as chief minister after allegations of statutory rape were made against him. He was taken to court, but the prosecutors later dropped the charge.

In his 20-minute speech, Anwar did not shy away from the topic, often using it to turn against his enemies.

"They want to talk about morality. My foot they have morality!

"I thank God for my beautiful children and my wife. Though Rahim had said it's me, who is Rahim? What's his background? He is the last person who should be talking about morality," he said.

'It's an Umno plot'

Speaking briefly to reporters later, Anwar brushed off the sex video episode as an "Umno plot".

Anwar also attacked Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, accusing him of being involved in the plot.

"Najib is involved. If not, how can they (the ‘Datuk T' trio) get cleared? The criminals are clearly getting away with this.

"They don't care about the truth even after it is established. They just want to create a issue," Anwar added.

Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has confirmed no arrest has been made so far, including of those who had screened the video to journalists at Carcosa Seri Negara on March 21.

Meanwhile, the police will issue a statement tomorrow on the posting on the Internet of the sex video.

According to Bernama , a spokesman of the federal police media centre in Bukit Aman said the media would be informed on any statement and news conference on the dissemination of the sex video recording.

Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar recently said the sex video recording was genuine and not doctored after being verified by local experts who checked it.
