The plot changes, but not moral of the story
'We have other more important issues. In an era of globalisation, we need to emerge as a vibrant economy in the region, not as a sex-driven nation.'
Malay daily: Man in sex video matches Anwar
Mont Blue: There are more crimes in the streets to fight, more snatched thieves to catch, more drug pushers to be apprehended, more Ah Longs to be arrested, more corrupted VIPs and civil servants to be charged, more unsolved murders to be dealt with, and the list goes on and on for the many ills happening in Malaysia.
The big question that is always bothering us and is a source of ugly shame for this country is why our Home Ministry, the Royal Malaysian Police, the Attorney-General's Chambers, the judiciary and so on, are spending so much time, effort and money on the sodomy and sex cases of one person.
Our country's issues are on good governance, fight corruption, fairness in the justice system, equality as per the constitution's articles and religious freedom. Why is the correct perspective not given? Why divert resources and public funds for ill-intended purposes?
Anonymous_40a7: When the top news in Berita Harian is about the confirmation that it was Anwar Ibrahim in the sex video from a "reliable" source, you know just how bad their journalism is.
Reformasi_3c26: Sedih tengok orang Melayu berpolitik gunakan isu sex. Politik harus fikir masalah negara dan bagaimana nak majukan negara.
Bertrand Russell: Berita Harian should stop this kind of character assassination. If they run a test on all politicians, maybe 90 percent of them will fail the chastity test. We have other more important issues that we need to solve. In an era of globalisation, we need to emerge as a vibrant economy in the region, not as a sex-driven nation.
Bekas Umno: The man in the video could be Anwar. It could be anyone else, too. I don't really care about the man in the video. If it's Anwar, than they achieved what they want: a character-cum-political assassination of one person.
Do they think that by proving the man in the video is Anwar, my vote will go to BN? No, it will never happen. My family and I vote for a cause - justice - and in BN we see no noble cause to sway our votes.
Rick Teo: Even if it's Anwar, so what? Charge him with having sex with a prostitute? They have already charged him with sodomy. Now having sex with a woman also a crime? Tell me how many in the present cabinet of PM Najib Razak have not had sex with somebody other than their wives? What about Najib?
So please, don't be hypocrites. The rakyat at large doesn't give a damn if Anwar wants to have some fun with a prostitute or even with his mistress, like Chua Soi Lek. As a matter of fact, men who are good in bed are good leaders - Bill Clinton and Silvio Berlusconi are two examples.
Sex video: Call for probe into falsifying evidence
Alan Goh: Mat Zain Ibrahim, at least there is still an honest ex-cop who dares to speak out against injustice and the abuse of power by politicians and police.
These people forget what all religion teaches - that thou shall not bear false witness. I hope that they repent before their days of reckoning arrive. As former police chief Hanif Omar said, keep shining the torch into the darkness and one day, the truth shall prevail.
L Joy: Malaysia has come a long way into disrepute since the days Dr Mahathir Mohamad became PM. He has corrupted all institutions to the extent that anyone wanting a position in the government must fulfill the wants of the political elite and do their needful.
And so it has came to pass that all institutions currently are being helmed by powers that were close to Mahathir. And so it is in the present PDRM.
IGP Ismail Omar gave himself away when he said that video number 2 is genuine, the man in video was identified, and the Chinese prostitute was interviewed, all before Sarawak elections - only for the police to turn 180 degrees.
What was the IGP hoping for? An extension? Little does Ismail realise that his replacement had just become deputy IGP, one who the political elite know is as smart as Musa Hassan in doing Umno's biddings.
AG sends sex tape probe papers back to police, again
Rubystar_4037: This sex video is going to be a hot potato, passing from one institution to the next. Since all and sundry know that the ones who commit the crime are the Datuk T trio, who is going to prosecute them when all they did was the bidding from the master to bring down Anwar?
Now that the dust has settled in Sarawak, there is no urgency in the matter anymore and PDRM and the AG's Office hope that this will go away quietly.
Lau Eng Shinn: How can the AG question the police report? Is that tantamount to modifying the report. To the layman, it look like they are trying to protect someone in the report.
Anonymous: All this is so stupid - one story after another story, but they all point towards one particular person.
What about the former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik? It's so easy to get away if you are from BN side, and so hard if you are representing the opposition. From the beginning until now, why only target on one particular person? Why is BN so afraid of this man?
