The anguish of a heartbroken mother
'To lose a child and also have to fight to have his besmirched reputation cleared is a testament to the degenerate state of the country we live in.'
Aminulrasyid's mom bids to clear his name
Keturunan Malaysia: Aminulrasyid Amzah's mom has to right to want to seek the truth and justice for her son like any mother does. Those found guilty of taking her son's life must first answer to the law of the land.
For those who are quick to condemn Aminulrasyid and say "he asked for it", you may find one day you too may want to seek truth and justice. I only hope if at all that times come, you will appreciate the pain and suffering of those who have unexpectedly lost their family members.
No amount of reasoning can be accepted to let truth and justice be intentionally buried and likewise, no amount of reasons can justify the letting go of those who commit proven murder.
Anonymous: It is high time the cops consider arming the troops with non-lethal weapons in the name of human rights and justice. Non-lethal weapons include (but are not limited to) stun guns, rubber bullets, pepper spray, etc. Live ammunition should only be used as an absolute last resort. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
AnakPinang: To lose a child and also have to fight to have his besmirched reputation cleared when it has been sullied by lies told by those who are supposed to uphold the law, is a testament to the degenerate state of the country we live in.
Cannon: Aminulrashid, Teoh Beng Hock, A Kugan and the rest, are victims of our fascist political system, who fell through the cracks. Their loved ones will not be able to find justice from the Palace of Justice - it has been transformed by Umno into a pit of injustice.
Obewan Kenobe: Bullets and reality are alike; they can hurt and often kill regardless whether you are a Si Mata Sepet, a Si Kaki Botol or a "Si" Melayu.
Just ask Aminulrasyid's family whether all the other "small stuff" that the BN protagonists claim to be defending and "struggling" on behalf of their "bangsa" is worth all the heartache that they have been experiencing.
Ksn: It is under these circumstances that the home minister, has allowed Perkasa, a declared group of racial fanatics, to form their own armed unit . Rela carries arms, right? Is it necessary to spell out the dangerous implications here?
Soi Lek barking up the wrong tree, says PKR
Call me Jibby: Why does MCA support Umno/BN if MCA wants to abolish Malay rights? Chua Soi Lek should instead threaten to pull MCA out of BN if PM Najib Razak doesn't agree to amend Umno's constitution and abolish Malay rights.
Ttloo: Knowing very well that Malay rights are guaranteed under the constitution, Chua has challenged PKR to cancel Malay rights. What an idiot leading MCA. He had better be prepared, as Perkasa will not take this issue lightly.
Macham2: Chua is definite out of tune with reality. Instead of fighting for the Chinese, which he can't, he tries to divert attention. He thinks all the Chinese are as stupid as those in MCA.
Alan Goh: Sudahlah , Chua. No Chinese, except your family and the 932 MCA delegates who voted for you, will bother to listen to what you say because of your tainted leadership. Just do the Chinese a favour and step down.
Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz humiliates MCA by saying that MCA is like an abused wife who daily complains about this and that, yet your party still wants to stay married to Umno. Tak-malu kah ?
Limml: If Chua can get back the finance minister post for MCA, I'll will be the first to vote for MCA.
Opposing teaching in English myopic
Cascara: A reasonable solution to this seemingly unending debate of which language should be used for science and mathematics instruction in schools and tertiary institutions would be to have two separate streams - one in the Malay medium and the other in English.
This is not too different from the days before Dr Mahathir Mohamad as minister of education decided to introduce full-scale instruction in the Malay medium, in keeping with his anti-colonial stance.
Students should not be forced into one or the other and should be free to choose their stream. This should not be difficult as instructors and texts are already available for both streams.
However, at the end of the day no one should complain that their qualification is unmarketable or job offers are scarce or complain about discrimination.
Wfworker: To those who insist that they can learn equally well in science and maths in Bahasa, let them stick to it. But do allow others who want to opt for the English medium to do so. Let us not burden them with facts like the world is flat and we all need to compete; let those who fear competition, in spite of all the grandiose slogans on pride, live their way of life.
Singa Pura Pura: PPSMI is a potent Malay weapon. With one strike, the results are four-fold. The advantage of the Chinese and Indians in English is neutralised. The Malays are thrown into the deep-end and start learning more than a couple of kampong syllables of English.
The head-start of the Chinese and Indians in maths and science is, again, neutralised. Slowly and painfully, but surely, the Malays boys and girls make up for their inherent deficit in maths and science, and improve their English at the same time.
But Perkasa, the Umno Youth scouts of old and the other old farts in Umno prefer daggers, dare and inane rhetoric.
