With hours to go before Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak addresses the nation in a speech highly anticipated to touch on several major reforms for the country, netizens are more amused than enthusiastic.

Several reports have speculated that Najib would annouce reforms allowing more space for civil liberties, including amendments to the draconian Internal Security Act and media related laws.

The secretive nature of the announcement has generated much interest, with the hash tag #NajibsAnnouncment now the number one trending topic in Malaysia on micro-blogging site Twitter .

Netizens are chipping in on what they think the announcement could be, in humourous ways.

There were also tweets joking about recent political issues, all related to the prime minister.

"(MCA president) Chua Soi Lek is appointed as Minister of having Women Affair, sorry I mean, Minister of Women's Affair," tweeted Richard Wee.

Another tweet pokes fun at the recent communism controversy, likening the prime minister to China's chairman Mao Zedong: "From now on you can call me Chairman Najib, long live the workers!"

The recent aborted six percent tax for prepaid cellphone users also made its way into Twitter , with Cay Rees tweeting: "The price of Milo will be increase with 7 percent tax because children like Milo."
