In these days of modern telecommunications, can't you give a directive to your subordinates to deal with the case with urgency?

Is being overseas an excuse for the continued torment of an innocent human being who has nowhere else to turn to. Have you chosen the right profession, Ayub?

Very often, I see policemen posing for press photos with Cheshire cat grins and smart uniforms when they have raided some nightclub and detained some Thai girls working on social visit passes, or posing after some items have been seized here and there.

Real police work involves protecting the public from danger such as this. We want to respect the police, but you got to earn that respect. If the job is too tough, go join another profession.

Senior Citizen: After 15 police reports, nothing has been done. Yet the police chief say he is overseas and will look into it when he returns. Take note of that - he will look into it. Somebody's life could be at stake.

Mohd Said: Does the police chief not have an assistant he can order to look into this immediately? Does the victim actually have to wait for him to come back? Is there anybody in any government department who is proactive?

Argonist: Should the public be surprised by this story? Do the citizens have any faith left in the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police).

Was the chief minister of Penang wrong in his recent comments regarding crime in Malaysia?

Human Being : Police are hopeless. Recently, a police report was made and referred to the Commercial Crime Department at USJ 8 IPD (district police headquarters).

This Inspector N (in front of the complainant) scolded his subordinate for delegating the case to him because he was very busy.

What an impression does that make to the complainant? True enough, he did not investigate the case even though there are adequate evidence.

Boom Boom Pow!: Well, it is commonly said in Malaysia that when in trouble, don't go to the police. It is an open secret that the police is corrupt, incompetent and sometimes criminal.

This is something that the next Pakatan Rakyat government must tackle when in power - the police and MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission).

BN has RM5 penalty in mind for Guan Eng

Yap Wing Chun: The problem lies with the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) where the old appointees from the previous administration still remain.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng will need time to make the changes even though he is the PDC chairman, unless of course, he sacks the whole lot there, which he cannot do.

The car park is not the only project that is badly implemented. Look at the clubhouse of the Bukit Jambul Golf Club; the roof leaks when it rains and this building is less than two years old.

Like in the case of the clubhouse, the consultant for the car park is a subsidiary of PDC.

This incestuous relationship of the developer and the consultant does not provide for the necessary checks and balances when it comes to implementation of projects.

There may be more worms if one examines the identities of the main contractors of these projects.

Voice: Gerakan education and training bureau chief Rowena Yam, the corruption, power abuse, cronyism, plundering of national resources, lavish spending, manipulation of public institutions, racial polarisation, bad governance, incompetency - and the list goes on - is blatant in the ruling BN government.

So what is your suggested penalty for BN leaders?

Alan Goh: The amount involved in the Penang Hill car park issue is nothing compared to the numbers of failed projects highlighted by the 2010 Auditor-General's Report. Just to recap:

1) Kuching Prison costing RM221 million is eight years behind schedule with RM56 million cost over-run.

2) Muara Tuang Sarawak Army Camp costing RM214 million is 95 percent completed, but falling apart.

3) RM165.3 million spent for unused baggage handling system linking KL Sentral to KLIA.

4) The failed RM73.6 million National Feedlot Corporation cattle breeding project at Gemas.

Wake up people, Malaysia is joining Greece soon, so speak up on bigger issues and not just the speck of dust in the opposition party's eye.

Loyal Malaysian: Thank you, Rowena Yam for being so kind as to recommend only a RM5 penalty for Guan Eng.

Unless he can exonerate himself from blame over the Kancil carpark fiasco when the official report is released, yes, he deserves to have the penalty imposed.

Until then, I will suspend judgement. Let the truth prevails. The facts can be easily ascertained.

Wira: For a chief minister who eradicates cronyism, rent-seeking and corruption in state and local government contracts and giving a big surplus to the state budget despite financial squeeze from Putrajaya, showing exemplary leadership by traveling economy class and staying in three-star hotel for official trips, bringing in the highest FDIs in comparison with all other states in the federation, we should increase his salary as a reward for a job well done.

Gerakan should censure its own president for his incompetence in containing the corruption of Umno during his 20-year rule as Penang CM.
