Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin today warned movement members not to hurt the party's progressive image during the party's general assembly tomorrow that it had painstakingly built up over the last few years.

NONE "We are seen as more progressive and liberal now. We should continue. Do not have any missteps at the last minute," he said during a press conference at the Umno Youth headquarter in Kuala Lumpur today.

He said while Umno Youth will not censor its members, he urged them to focus on the issues.

"There is no need to censor. There will be freedom, but they have to understand the message that we would like to present."

He called on delegates to focus on the prime minister's transformation programme and the next general election, particularly in comparing their performance to Pakatan Rakyat-held states.

"I always remind my youth, this is most likely the last general assembly before the next general election... This is when our candidates will be evaluated, do not make any mistakes."

He added that whatever is said and done during the general assembly will not be limited to their halls, as it will be discussed in the social media.

"Other than racial sensitivity, what we say must have relevance to the youths out there. We do not want to youths out there to see (that) what we debate has no relevance at all with what they want."

Asked to comment on PKR Youth Chief Shamsul Iskandar challenge for Umno to amend the constitution requiring the prime minister to be a Malay, Khairy said he will touch on the matter during his address to party delegates.
