VOXPOP 'The news on Daniyar was 'exaggerated'? What does that mean? That he pocketed only US$2 million, not US$20 million?'
'Allegations against Daniyar exaggerated'
Onyourtoes:
This is not the other side of the family, unless you consider your son-in-law not part of your family. I don't care much for the US$20 million law suit against Daniyar Nazarbayev because that is subjected to evidence and argument in court.
I am concerned with the credentials used to gain him admission to Columbia University. He either denies and sues, or asks the university to clarify.
If this not settled, you are having a fraudulent person as your son-in-law - unless you consider cheating his way into university is acceptable and tolerable according to your moral and ethical standards.
Swipenter: Anyway let us see whether Daniyar would come out in the open and refute the allegations about faking his way into Columbia University.
If so, he must take the New York Post to the court and sue them for defamation and clear his name.
Unfortunately, silence in this instant is not golden but an admission of guilt. The family dispute is to be settled in court and the juicy details are for all to see and judge during the trial.
Odin: Sheer brilliance. The ‘exaggerated' remark reminds me of a comment on the subject made by an Umno cybertrooper, Amen .
He pointed out something to the effect that as it had not been established that the Daniyar in the news and the one Najib's daughter is engaged to were one and the same person, then the New York Post report could not be accepted as factual.
Correct! Correct! Correct!
AnakPinang: I seriously doubt the New York Post would cook up a story like this because in the US, sources need to back their claims with evidence, quite unlike here in Malaysia where the media is allowed the liberty of writing free and interpretive narratives and called them news.
Louis: Do you think that New York Post is as low as Utusan Malaysia and exaggerate stories like it too?
Anyway it is the habit of our leaders to deny foreign news which are not favourable to them.
Even when documents alleging that the submarine secrets had been compromised are revealed, our leaders can still deny the facts.
Hang Babeuf: "Exaggerated"? What does this mean? That the boy is only a little swindler, not a big swindler?
That he pocketed only US$2 million, not US$20 million? A fabulous defence!
Blind Freddo: It's truly sad. The whole world seems to be conspiring 'to get' our great leader and his beautiful first lady.
Gov't requests additional RM13.7 billion
Slumdog: I suggest that Pakatan Rakyat establish an independent and transparent audit commission if they win GE13 to review the financial health of the nation.
I suspect that the Finance Ministry, in collusion with the PM (who is also finance minister) has fudged the national accounts and that the country's financial position is much worse than has been reported.
This should include a review of all past and future departmental expenditure and projects. Anwar Ibrahim, make this your priority in Pakatan's first 100 days in government.
Onyourtoes: Please look at the figure in context. The original deficit as estimated in the 2012 budget was RM43 billion.
So with additional RM13 billion, it is about a quarter or 25 percent more. How did they do forecasts and estimates?
I have always said the budget numbers presented in budget day were meaningless given the history of extraordinary supplementary expenditure requested each year.
Ramakrishnan: At every Parliament sitting the government asks for extra allocations. Our deficit must be much higher than what has been publicly announced.
All the extra funds is to keep the BN government in power. Where is the accountability, transparency?
We only hear of extra spending but no extra revenue. When there are profits, they privatise it and we end up losing.
Vgeorgemy : The regime that has no funds for higher education for our younger generation, but is able to find RM13.7 billion to support and finance crony capitalism.
Ghkok: This is totally irresponsible. The debt load is already leading us towards a Greek situation. It's going to be unsustainable.
Fugu Buster: If RM13.7 billion is distributed to our 28 million population, on average each person would get around RM500.
20121221Disaster : The Umno leadership is trying to make the national coffers heavily debt laden, so that should Pakatan finally take over the government, the new government would be prevented from implementing low petrol prices, free toll charges, free education and many other social welfare services it is promising.
Then the Umno-led opposition can continuously bombard the Pakatan government.
Avatar 111: It's so difficult to increase revenues and taxes and yet the government through one stroke of the pen decides on additional budget.
Even if this government is my beloved son, I would ask him to go fly kites.
Ib Katak Ali : You will never see British prime minister David Cameron and other UK MPs smiling ear to ear if they are tabling budget overruns of RM13.7 billion.
Only in 1Cartoon Malaysia, it is treated as a joke.
