Actress Lisa Surihani has claimed that she does not know who produced the mysterious 'Saya Pilih Malaysia' campaign polls that made its way into the mainstream media last month.
She was offered a role in the campaign through an agency which she accepted because of its "democratic rights" message.
"To be honest I don't know (who produced it). That was handled by a talent agency.
"For me it is okay that I share with the rakyat that 'Look, we have democratic rights and it's right for you to do it'.
"That's why I did it," Lisa said when asked about her involvement in the mysterious polls campaign.
Last July, the campaign kicked off with a series of half-page and full-page colour advertisements in all mainstream newspapers and television advertisements ran on prime time.
However, the advertisement did not display any explicit leaning towards any political party.
Only in for the message
Commenting on certain keywords - peace, progress, stability and unity - are often used BN's campaign, Lisa said her part in the advertisement was limited to encouraging the viewers to go out and vote and not on who to vote for.
"The part that I'm in, I tell them that 'Look, you have the power to voice out. You have that right use that right.
"But I'm not going to say to you directly who you should vote. Because even I don't say openly who I vote for," she said when met after Malaysian Artist Association (Seniman) dialogue with a minister in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Contrary to popular belief, Lisa, who was conferred a special achievement award by Puteri Umno late last year, denied that she was a member of any political party.
She also has no plans to campaign for Umno in the coming general election.
"Sorry, I do not combine the two (politics and entertainment). Some people, they can do it, be involved in two sectors but I can't," she said.
She also said that she did not see herself getting involved in politics in the near future.
"I can say bluntly (it is because of) lack of knowledge, (and it is) not really what I'm here for, so no." she added.
