Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim said that the state government will submit details regarding the water restructuring deals to four water operators in Selangor next month.

“We will submit the proposal and paperwork in the second week of September.

“We will offer (the deals) to the four water-related companies in Selangor,” he said during a press conference in Shah Alam this afternoon.

The restructuring will involve four water concessionaires in the state - Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), Konsortium Abass Sdn Bhd (Abass), Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd and Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd.

NONE During the press conference, Khalid ( left ) had slammed Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Peter Chin Fah Kui’s statement yesterday in which he said that the Langat 2 reservoir will not cause any additional expenses on behalf of the people of Selangor.

According to Khalid, Chin’s statement shows that the minister is still uninformed about the ins and outs of the country’s finances.

“I think Peter Chin still does not understand the issue of building Langat 2.

“It will still need funding and the funds must be paid via tax or tariff cost. Nothing is free.

“Even if he gives a grant to Selangor, it came from the rakyat’s taxes that we paid,” he said when talking about Chin’s statement, that was reported by a Malay-language newspaper yesterday.
