Perkasa has claimed that the United States government financed the controversial ‘Innocence of Muslims’ film, where the funds were channelled through certain non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

NONE Its president Ibrahim Ali claimed that he believes the US is doing this through the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) which finances these NGOs, which in turn used the funds to finance the film.

“Before Sept 11, CIA operations had somewhat failed and this resulted in the agency changing strategy to channel their funds through non-governmental organisations,” he said.

Ibrahim also claimed that the film is also financed by Zionists through the CIA.

"The (United States) US is controlled by the minority Zionist who are powerful there. They help finance this,” he claimed, adding US secretary of state Hilary Clinton, who defended the film, should be careful of what she said as this will undermine or kill democracy itself.

Ibrahim further added that the reaction by Muslims across the world “is the price the US have to pay in protecting their values”.

“Does the US value include derogating Islam and Prophet Muhammad,” he asked, adding that tomorrow, a special prayer will be held at the Kampung Baru mosque after night prayers.

This prayers and talk would be led by former Johor mufti Noh Gadut.

There have been worldwide protests in Muslim countries over the film’s depiction of Prophet Muhammad.

Google has blocked the anti-Islam film in Malaysia from its video-sharing site YouTube, following Malaysia’s request.

Mahathir: Western values have gone crazy

NONE Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad also questioned Clinton's stand in defending the film, saying Western values have gone crazy in the name of human rights and free speech.

He said: “What kind of human society will we have if everyone can curse and denigrate everyone else? There will be no peace either between countries or religions or races. Western values are not universal, no matter what the Westerners claim or believe about their values. Other people and Asians have their own values.

“If the West believes freedom must be enjoyed by all, then that freedom must be extended to the values subscribed by others. If the Westerners do not believe others should have freedom to enjoy their own values then you do not really believe in freedom as a part of human rights,” said the former premier.

Mahathir, in his blog, also condemned the violent reactions to the film, but said he understood the people's feelings.

NONE Meanwhile PKR deputy president Azmin Ali urges Muslims across the world to protect the sanctity of Islam and the Prophet Muhammad but at the same time he urged them not to punish innocent people.

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar has indicated that it will launch a huge protest on Friday over the film, which was allegedly produced by Sam Bacile.

PAS Youth has also indicated that they, too, will protest in front of the US embassy after Friday prayers, calling on various states to mobilise 5,000 youths from each state nationwide, said its secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil.
