The Selangor government will be going on the offensive in explaining the Talam controversy after months of relentless attack by the MCA.

NONE Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim ( left ) said the state government will be organising a roadshow across the state, beginning this Saturday in Kajang, to explain the matter.

"This roadshow will be held simultaneously on every Saturday, where four official speakers appointed by the state government will be at different places to do their presentation," he said during a press conference at the state secretariat building this evening.

The roadshow will explain the RM392 million Talam debt recovery exercise procedure from start to end, and also how the money was channelled back to the people through the Geran Selangorku programme.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid said the state government had yet to receive a reply from the federal government on its water restructuring plan despite the 14-day deadline having passed.

"But I have been informed that there may be a meeting by the water committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for a discussion with the Selangor government on terms of policy," he said.

'Special sitting timing not an issue'

azlan In a separate development, Abdul Khalid said the electoral roll audit report, under the Selangorku Bersih project that found some 110,000 dubious voters, would either be tabled at the Nov 19 sitting or, if possible, at an earlier special sitting if permitted by the Selangor Sultan.

The Talam white paper as well as the water restructuring white paper, containing all communications between the state and federal government on the two matters, will also be tabled.

Abdul Khalid said he was still awaiting the Sultan's consent for an earlier special sitting but played down the significance of the timing.

"The Sultan has already agreed on the Nov 19 sitting so we are seeing if the special sitting can be held at least two weeks earlier, if it is too close then it is not suitable.

"Of course it will involve extra cost... but there are pros and cons of an earlier sitting, we can focus on the issues that we want to discuss on. But timing is not an issue," he said.
