Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim denied any misconduct in the acquisition of the PKR campaign bus costing RM650,000 saying he paid for it out of his own pocket.

NONE Speaking at the state assembly today, Khalid said he is paying through monthly instalments and that he could afford it due to prudent management of his personal finances.

“I bought (the bus) myself. I encourage the MACC to investigate, and I have given them all the documents so they can see for themselves good financial management practices both in managing the state and my own personal finances,” he said.

State opposition leader Satim Diman then rose to ask if the bus was registered under Khalid’s name.

“It is registered under the name Abdul Khalid bin Ibrahim and the license was issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ),” the MB answered to chuckles from the state assemblypersons in the hall.

Shortly after in October several pro-government groups led by Gagasan Anti-Penyelewengan Selangor (Gaps) lodged a report with the MACC over the bus' purchase.

According to news reports, Gaps claimed that the bus had been  purchased from a factory that was also supplying compactor lorries to the state government without open tender.

Gaps president Hamidzun Khairuddin also claimed that Khalid was in debt and had defaulted on a loan from Bank Islam.
