A Barisan Nasional MP caused a stir in the Dewan Rakyat today when he questioned whether PAS is a party that adheres to the principles of syariah.

umno youth rally 090209 tajuddin pasir salak Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) raised the question in reference to the prayer for Umno’s downfall during the Islamic party’s recent muktamar in Kota Bharu.

“Did PAS itself comply with the syariah when it prayed for the destruction of others?” Tajuddin asked, interjecting Dzulkefly Ahmad (PAS-Kuala Selangor) during Dzulkefly’s debate in the Dewan Rakyat.

In reply, Dzulkefly said the prayer was conducted on the "injustices" done by Umno and BN.

Tuan guru (PAS' spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat) preferred to pray for a TKO (knock out) of Umno BN as Umno BN has wronged by robbing the Kelantan royalty of RM10 billion.

“What was carried out were the prayers of the mazlun (the oppressed) because the BN government did not respect the sanctity of the contract (on oil royalty),” Dzulkefly said.

Tajuddin then came to defence of Umno and BN, which he claimed were not only responsible in the fight for the country’s independence, but also for making it possible for Dzulkefly ( below ) to become MP.

“Where does it show the cruelty of Umno? Umno and BN are the ones that enabled you to sit over there.

“This (PAS) is the cruel one, those who accuse are cruel. We practise the true Islam that is open-minded,” said Tajuddin.

The latter’s statement also prompted Ahmad Kassim (PKR-Kuala Kedah) to interject, saying that Tajuddin should raise the issue at the Umno general assembly rather than in Parliament.

Tuan Yang diPertua , (MP) Pasir Salak is in the wrong Dewan... This is (like a) PWTC (Putra World Trade Centre, where the Umno AGM is being held) speech,” Ahmad threw in, causing Tajuddin to chuckle.

On Nov 16, PAS, led by Nik Aziz's younger brother Nik Razi Nik Mat, held a prayer session for the downfall of Umno.

Members of Dewan Rakyat were today debating the Islamic Financial Services Bill 2012, which has been tabled for a second reading.
