Facebook numbers and the pro-Aspirasi faction's victory in the campus polls shows that the youths are now with BN, said Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

In his winding-up speech at the Umno general assembly today, Khairy said that the trend was triggered by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's transformation policies.

Among examples of "youth friendly" policies, Khairy cited the amendments of the Universities and University Colleges Act (UUCA) and the abolishment of Internal Security Act (ISA).

"If we look at Facebook , Najib's followers are more than 1.25 million compared to their de facto leader (Anwar Ibrahim) which is not more than 200,000," he said.

Khairy said that the youths had also clearly rejected Pakatan Rakyat's policy of providing free education, based on the pro-Aspirasi faction's victory.

"If that was their offer to the students, the referendum was the campus election," he said.

Khairy added that the amendment of the UUCA had also helped open doors for students to join BN supporters' club in their respective universities.

Meanwhile, Umno wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil urged BN to focus on single mothers, adding that BN wanita wing would be coming up with a plan soon.
