PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat has been asked to stay on as Kelantan commissioner to lead the state, while vice president Mahfuz Omar will take over as Kedah PAS commissioner.

According to party organ Harakahdaily today, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang conveyed this to the former Kelantan menteri besar at a closed door meeting this morning.

NONE Hadi ( right ) told Harakahdaily that he further advised 80-year-old  Nik Aziz to take advantage of his time off from being a menteri besar to look after his health.

“He needs plenty of rest. God willing, we need someone like him to lead the Islamic cause,” he said.

Despite retaining his Chempaka state seat, the long time Kelantan MB relinquished his chief executive post after the general election on May 5.

Nik Aziz on Friday was reported saying he preferred that the new MB Ahmad Yakob hold the position of state commissioner, stressing that both posts needed to be helmed by the same person.

“You can’t have one person as state commissioner and another as the menteri besar,” he said according to Sinar Harian .

NONE According to the party organ yesterday, the decision was made during PAS central committee’s meeting yesterday.
