PKR CONGRESS PKR's Lunas state assemblyperson Azman Nasrudin has urged Election Commission (EC) chief Abdul Aziz Yusof and deputy Wan Ahmad Wan Omar to leave the country.

"We demand that the EC chief and deputy get out of this country.

"They say they have already implemented the opposition's request for indelible ink, my foot!" he said when debating the president's policy speech during the ninth PKR Congress in Petaling Jaya today.

NONE Azman appeared to be taking a page out of newly-minted Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's book who had urged those frowning on the country's electoral system to emigrate.

He also urged the immediate resignation of the duo for failing to oversee a clean and fair general election.

In addition, he threw in a suggestion that future appointments of returning officers at polling stations be mutually agreed upon between Pakatan Rakyat and BN.

Earlier, cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Haque, more popularly known as Zunar, also took the podium.

He joked that even though BN lost the popular vote by winning only 47 percent as opposed to Pakatan's 51 percent, it would have been lower had it not been for the "CIMB" who had allegedly been illegally allowed to vote.

“CIMB refers to people from Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and Bangladesh," he explained, as the delegates burst into laughter.

'Respect Pakatan consensus'

Earlier, newly-minted Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin said Pakatan Rakyat's internecine quarrels - especially during the campaign period in the recently concluded general election - had brought disappointment to supporters.

"There were issues raised due to opposing ideas among each other (parties) in the mass media and these differences were even debated during the campaign period.

"This was capitalised on by the opposing side and our supporters were very disappointed by this," he said.

While not naming names, Penang's representative Sim said policies that have already been collectively agreed upon among BN PKR, PAS and DAP need not be raised again.

NONE In the first week of campaigning, PAS' deputy spiritual leader Haron Din ( left ) had said his party was prepared to abandon Pakatan if it refused to implement hudud laws.

Turning to another matter, Sim expressed the hope that the 13th general election's seat allocation forumula is kept for the next national polls to avert quarrels in tough last minute negotiations.

Meanwhile, Sarawak's representative Joshua Jabeng urged PKR to gear up for the Sarawak state election due in 2016.

"We hope that the party can give our state leadership autonomy in choosing our candidates and that they should be chosen earlier to avoid misunderstandings as disgruntled persons contest as independents, don't do it at the last minute," he said.

Party polls to be delayed

Among the reasons, he said, was to provide the party's secretariat sufficient time to prepare as the general election only concluded three weeks ago and party polls are scheduled for next month.

Furthermore, he said that there had been also calls to improve the party's electoral mechanism, including simultaneously holding branch and central leadership elections.

This, he added, required the party's constitution to be amended which needed time.

"Our constitution allows for elections to be delayed for no more than six months.

"(Or else,) the term of the branch leadership will expire on Sept 17 and the central leadership's term will expire on Nov 28 this year," he said.

The party, which passed the motion, also agreed to extend the existing leadership's tenure for six months in the light of the delay in party polls.
