your say, YoursayBystander: This is simply unacceptable to have so many incidents of ceiling collapse. The Works Ministry and the Health Ministry must do something to arrest those responsible for this unbelievable situation. Name the contractor in the Hall of Shame too as a deterrence for all contractors.

Nil: Why focus the blame on the contractor who only played a small part in the game and who only followed "instructions"? What about the engineer who calculates the stress and strain, who approves standards and draws up the "engineering" plans?

What about the authority that approved the building plans, which then supervised the construction of the building and then issued the safety certificate for occupation?

What about the owner? As of now, the building should be declared as unfit for occupation and access to it blocked.

Rambo1: The hospital should be on red alert. This is no joke. If this happened in countries like Japan and Korea, the health minister would have resigned, and in China, this could even lead to a death sentence.

HC: It's amazing that the hospital is still operational. If the civil structure of the hospital is questionable, the hospital authorities must close down the hospital in order for a independent investigation to take place.

In most countries where a government of repute is in charge, the parties responsible would have already had criminal charges levelled against them.

CiViC: Obviously they can't name the company. Firstly, it is likely closely related to some top people, and secondly, the contractor must have built more than just this building, so naming it out would be akin to opening a can of worms.

Retard: Indeed, after naming and shaming the contractor, please give him a bigger project so he can practice and not make the same mistakes.

Ceiling of dread looms over patients

Unmasked: When the Serdang Hospital ceiling collapsed the first time it was an accident, the second time it collapsed, it was a coincidence, when it happened the third time it is called a deliberation but when it happened four other times, what do you called it? Corruption!

Kamaapo: Anything concerning such corruption-prompted, rakyat's tax-squandering, instant-millionaire-creating shameful incidents were ever raised by the "patriotic" delegates in the recent Umno general assembly?

They talked so much but of nothing productive. We can expect many more such collapses nationwide until the final big collapse of BN. That's the only sure cure for this cancerous malady.

Every Vote Counts: "First they said it was new building, and that is why the roof collapsed", so ceilings of all new buildings must collapse?

Doc: In most countries, those who suffer from injuries go to the hospital for treatment. Only in Malaysia can one come to the hospital and get injured.

JG: Sometimes you cannot blame the contractor, because before they commence work, they have to first pay a few millions to so and so, in order to secure the job.

Then, when they get the letter of award of contract, they have to pay another few millions to another so and so, and by then there is little money left to construct the hospital.

Flyingeagle: Name those who received money first before the approval was confirmed. Go to the bottom of this matter and let no one be spared. This is taxpayers' money and someone must be held accountable.

KiaSi-SiamSai: Typical Umno. They are not going to move an inch unless death occurs. Just watch what happens should someone die because of this.

The Mask: For heavens sake, the hospital ceiling has fallen seven times and there is not even a squeak from the government.

Aloysius: I think the building should be condemned and pulled down. Insurers should have insisted on this to protect human life and to limit their payout.

Tiredofsuchnonsense: In this Boleh-land, people are C4-ed, but no murderers held responsible; money stolen, but no thieves caught, jet engine is stolen, but no thief prosecuted; laws broken, but no offenders charged because of double standards; islands lost, but no one is responsible. Truly, this is a land of many possibilities.

Kanasai: Serdang Hospital really is a rumah sakit (sick house) and it seems nobody is able to diagnose the problem. Does anyone see a sign outside stating that this hospital was built by BN?
