Ku Li shouldn't associate himself with Perkasa
YOURSAY ‘Ku Li is actually giving this disgusting organisation credibility by attending their function. Why did he accept their invitation?’
The fault is more within than without, Ku Li tells Perkasa
Lamborghini:
Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Ku Li), your straight talk to Perkasa leaders to look at themselves and not blame others is laudable.
I salute you for your courage and your forthrightness. It is my prayer that your wise and sobering words of truth will have some positive effect on your audience who are mostly narrow-minded and arrogant racists.
What was not reported was the reception to your message. It is not just what is said but how it was accepted that really matters.
Please continue to speak up without fear or favour, especially to your Umno and Perkasa hardliners before this beloved and beautiful nation is destroyed by religious and racial extremists.
Ferdtan: It is well and good that Razaleigh who spoke at the Perkasa’s 4th annual general meeting by giving a sobering speech on the Malay’s position in politics and the economy.
He backed it with his take of the country’s historical background. It is rather surprising to find a liberal person of status of Razaleigh to be at the function of the right-wingers who have an affinity for politics using race and religious card.
Be warned Tengku, don’t associate too often with them. Listen to the wise advice of the first president of United States, George Washington:
“Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company.”
Proarte: Ku Li can offer no advice which is of relevance to the Malaysia in 2013. He belongs to the old order which was a British colonial invention which co-oped, and to a large extent, invented the royal institution in Malaya with Malays defined and given constitutional 'dominance'.
This largely 'rentier' scenario is no longer tenable and Malays are paying the price for dysfunctional constitutional provisions which has thwarted their development and confidence.
The British made the 'dominant' group dependent on them and this they achieved comprehensively through a puppet monarchial system, defining the Malay race and straight-jacketing Islam.
In short, the 'Malays' and their monarchy, together with their peculiar brand of Islam is a British invention in a classic case of divide and rule. This facilitated exploitation of resources.
Umno has inherited the British model without having the intelligence or long-term vision to modify this outdated constitution to serve the nation better.
Ku Li is actually giving this disgusting organisation credibility by attending their function. Why did he accept their invitation?
Perkasa is a Mahathir outfit and is subcontracted to do the bigoted, racist and reactionary requirements of Umno to rally the hapless Malays who are viewed and treated as pawns.
Ku Li has damaged his credibility by being the guest of honour and given a red carpet treatment. Does Ku Li actually believe the likes of Ibrahim Ali and Mahathir will care a tuppence for his views?
He has just lent credibility to Perkasa and destroyed whatever vestige of credibility he had. Let's face it, Ku Li betrayed Semangat 46 and went back to Umno with his tails between his legs and begged for forgiveness from Mahathir who repaid this humiliating retreat by putting Ku Li into cold storage in Umno.
Where is 'royal' dignity if there was any in the first place?
Ksn: Indeed, Ku Li has lowered his standing in the eyes of all Malaysians regardless of the contents of his speech at the Perkasa gathering, a group of fanatics.
Appum: Ha, ha, ha... I wonder if Perkasa regretted inviting Ku Li to the assembly.
Bamboo: Peninsular Malaysia is a blessed land with good climate, fertile lands and abundance of many resources. Food is abundance from the sea/rivers and land all year round.
Therefore, the Malays don't have the culture of saving for the rainy days like those in temperate countries to cultivate, harvest and save the foods to tide over the winter.
But the biggest curse was we had pseudo-Malays as leaders and harped that Malays are weak and give them only crumbs.
These clever pseudo-Malays, in cohort of true Malays, took advantage of NEP (New Economic Policy) and looted the country blind. And that now many foreigners are given MyKads as instant voters, competition is keener.
Unless Malays start to earn their own keep and quit the special right mentality, soon they will be servants of their bosses who have made good in Malaysia.
Cocomomo: Progressive Malays and other Malaysians will move forward. Perkasa Malays and Hindraf supporters will stay by the sidelines asking for handouts.
Malaysians should ignore race-based groups and work together to build a moderate progressive corruption free Malaysia.
Lynn: Unfortunately, intelligent and rationale rhetoric will always be lost on half wits...
