Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today boasted about the successful visit of US President Barack Obama to civil servants, saying that Malaysia was able to showcase how far it had come.

In his monthly address to the Prime Minister's Department staff, Najib said this was a far cry from when US president Lyndon B Johnson visited Malaysia 48 years ago.

"When the US president visited Malaysia for the first time, we could only show president Johnson rubber estates at a Felda named after him.

"But when Obama came, he could see after 48 years, not rubber trees but a successful country," he added.

Najib said what Obama saw was a "success story" and this was something Malaysians should be proud of.

"It is a country which has gone through huge transformation," he said.

On another matter, Najib urged civil servants to heed criticism in the auditor-general's report and to address them.

"We must give serious attention to the audit report so that any criticism about weaknesses, abuses or leakages can be addressed and one day be kept to almost none.

"This is our commitment that we must undertake," he said.
