Wee twists and turns on ‘leave BN’ comment
YOURSAY ‘Why can't you for once be a man and stand your ground?’
BN portal: MCA hudud stance 'biadap'
Quigonbond: So, MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong, you are saying if Umno agrees to hudud, you will still stay in BN? This is despite hudud is against the constitution?
I wonder if you even understand if this unprincipled position is worse than if you actually grow a pair and threaten to leave BN.
One day, someone in your family who is not privileged is going to get his arms cut off over miscarriage of justice. I'd like you to tell his parents or his children how you've contributed to hudud being established as a dual criminal justice system in a purportedly modern, constitutional democracy.
If by now MCA and other component parties in BN still don't want to play the "leave BN" threat card, God safe Malaysia.
Aries46: Wee, reviewing your position or leaving BN is the same. Why can't you for once be a man and stand your ground instead of chickening out and blaming Malaysiakini ?
After all, where can you run? MCA is caught in a Hobson's choice situation. If it does not support its Umno masters on its hudud venture, it will be called 'biadap'. The Chinese will suffer all kind of name calling like 'intruders', 'oppressors' and so on.
Worse still, MCA will be held to ransom for the ministerial posts that you and party president Liow Tiong Lai want at any cost.
On the other hand, if MCA goes along with Umno's hudud agenda, they will be BN ministers but treated as outcasts and traitors by the Chinese community.
So it is time for Liow and Wee to decide whether they want to be ministers under their Umno masters or they want to be respected by their community as decent members that stood up against Umno's repressions.
Worried Sick: “ Malaysiakini twisted what I said. The more I speak to Malaysiakini the more I get walloped. This is why I don't answer or say anything to Malaysiakini ,” Wee was quoted saying.
To those learning English: this is what is called a 'perfect double-speak'. It can only come from a perfect nincompoop.
Louis: Wee is the one who is twisting the fact. Credit must be given to Malaysiakini journalist Ram Anand for reporting what Wee had actually spoken.
Ram did not at any time say that MCA wanted to leave BN, but Wee claimed it to be so. Now clearly Wee had twisted the facts, not Malaysiakini which merely said MCA might want to review its position in BN.
Wee is trying to save his own skin. Luckily Malaysiakini has a video recording to back up its reporting.
Awakened: In my earlier comment, I mentioned that the hudud issue was a game played by the four parties - Umno, MCA, PAS and DAP. When the dust settled, the winners will be Umno and DAP.
It is very clear now that MCA will lose the game. You can see that Umno is reprimanding MCA as ‘biadap’ but dared not mention a single word about ex-PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad who had openly criticised the implementation of hudud.
Wait for a few more days, you can see new developments on the game plan. PAS is going to lose big time.
Looking at the situation in Malaysia, the people will be divided geographically between East and West Malaysia , religiously between Muslims and non-Muslims, racially between Malays and non-Malays.
The extremist groups has a free hand in stoking tensions in the country without the fear of being charged. The trend is worrying and Malaysia will go down further without a strong leader who can unite all Malaysians together like Tunku Abdul Rahman did.
TehTarik: All indications point to the introduction of hudud law within the next year. It only needs a simple majority in Parliament. Umno + PAS = 109 seats. An extra three (probably from East Malaysia) and you have a simple majority of 112.
The introduction of hudud will solidify Malay unity, but at the expense of irreversible damage to inter-racial harmony. The non-Muslims will be permanently alienated.
Initially it will be introduced in Kelantan. Next in line will be Perlis, Kedah and Terengganu. Then possibly Pahang and Negri Sembilan. I will not be the least surprised if hudud law extends to non-Muslims sometime in the future.
If Brunei with 30 percent non-Muslims can introduce hudud for all, then why not Malaysia. Many Muslims feel that for hudud to be fair, it should encompass all Malaysians.
In all likelihood, MCA will leave BN sometime over the next year. The introduction of hudud will result in an outflow of non-Malay talent and capital. However, many Malays will be happy with the non-Muslim exodus.
Vijay47: Why is it that the upper level of leadership in MIC and MCA both lack in spunk and backbone?
MIC's Dr S Subramaniam as always is dead silent on hudud and the inflammatory statements made by Muslim fanatics and now we have that spineless Wee backtracking and coming out with the usual "I was misquoted" defence.
Wee, I would suggest you take some lessons from MIC leader S Vell Paari on how to call a spade a spade .
