Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-president Huan Cheng Guan today criticised DAP candidate for the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary by-election, Ramkarpal Singh Deo, for engaging in character assassination.

He said as the son of the late Karpal Singh, who was a renowned lawyer, Ramkarpal, should engage in a healthy campaign and emulate his late father's way of playing politics, what was to focus on issues and policies.

"Campaign in a healthy way. Do not make personal attacks," he told a media conference in George Town today.

Huan also denied having called Ramkarpal Singh gay and challenged him to sue him if there was evidence he did so.

On a claim by Air Itam State Assemblyman Wong Hon Wai that he (Huan) did not channel funds to school when he was a member of parliament in 2004, Huan said it was not true and gave Wong until Saturday to apologise, failing which, he would take legal action against him.

The Bukit Gelugor by-election was called following the death of its member of parliament Karpal Singh of DAP in a road crash last April 17.

There will be a four-cornered fight for the seat, involving Huan and Ramkarpal and two independent candidates, Abu Backer Sidek Mohammad Zan and Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Abdul Sathar.
