Umno supreme council member Reezal Merican Naina Merican has urged the authorities to take action against DAP Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer on his "celaka" statement against Umno, which resulted in a series of protests.

"As many Umno Youth members are being investigated, Rayer should also be investigated for instigation and sedition," Reezal told reporters in Teluk Intan today.

He was commenting on the seven-hour investigation by the police on Umno Youth members who threatened to burn down the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Rayer, a lawyer, had said Umno is "celaka" (damned) recently at the Penang state legislative assembly, sparking Perkasa and Umno members to storm the legislature in search of him.

Reezal ( right ) claimed Rayer had repeated his statement outside the legislature at a ceramah in Bukit Gelugor and several police reports had been lodged against him.

"What he said in the ceramah can be considered as sedition."

Hence, the Umno supreme council member said, Rayer should be investigated for making seditious statements outside the state assembly.

"I think there will be more police reports lodged against him," added Reezal.

Meanwhile, in Penang, several NGOs and the Penang Umno Youth today lodged police reports against Rayer for making the statements in the recently concluded Bukit Gelugor by-election campaign.

According to Bernama , Nibong Tebal Umno Youth head Norheisham Ismail said the police should use the Sedition Act 1948 to investigate Rayer.
