The Selangor state assembly today accepted a report, which among others recommended that Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyperson Azmin Ali be allowed to remain on the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) board of directors.
The matter was tabled by Ng Suee Lim (DAP-Sekinchan) ( left ) under Standing Order 76 (5) based on a report by the Selangor Competency Accountability and Transparency select committee (Selcat).
The recommendation will be considered by the Selangor executive council, which will give its official feedback when the legislature resumes.
"The committee is of the view that he is still a PKNS board member," he said when tabling the matter.
'PKNS sacking improper'
Met later, Ng said that the Selcat hearing before this found that Azmin was appointed as PKNS director for the term ending 2014, by the executive council (exco) for the term ending 2014.
"The exco letter clearly states that he was appointed until 2014. Despite the misunderstanding, the documents show he is still PKNS director," he told reporters.
Azmin and Khalid testified before Selcat, which is headed by state legislative speaker Hannah Yeoh on March 25 and 26.
Azmin (right) was reportedly sacked as PKNS director by then general manager Othman Omar, who claimed that this was on the exco's instruction.
Othman's claim was, however, denied by Khalid and the exco members causing Othman and another PKNS staff member to be transferred.
Last February, PKNS also terminated with 24-hour notice 22 contract staff.
Commenting on the matter, Ng said that Selcat found that the contract staff's termination was "not done properly".
"We advise that in the future, such matters are done in a proper manner and in a rushed way," he told reporters.
The terminations were seen to be part of a Selangor PKR fued between those aligned to Azmin and a rival camp which supports Khalid.
