PAS' inconsistency in the Selangor menteri besar crisis is akin to giving up a "pretty wife" to PKR the moment the PKR makes the demand, an Umno division leader said today.

Ampang Umno chief Ismail Kijo is quoted by Umno Online as saying that PAS could not take pressure and that the party easily follows the "instructions of others."

"For example, if we have a pretty wife but our friend wants the wife. Without asking too many questions we just give the wife away," Ismail is quoted as saying.

He also said that the ulama wing in PAS was merely there for "decorative" purposes as the "liberals" in PAS were setting the direction of the party.

"I am not underestimating the ulama in PAS, but these people who are smart about religion are defeated by the liberals who have cropped up since the party started cooperating with PKR and DAP," Ismail said.

"PAS now has to follow the direction set by the liberals who will validate any method," he said.

PAS was no longer firm in its opinions and was instead being seen as a "yes man" party to its partners, Ismail added.

PAS had initially supported Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to remain as Selangor menteri besar, but withdrew the support after a prolonged period, following Khalid’s sacking from PKR.
