Umno’s Federal Territories Youth Wing has backed Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Mansor’s accusations that the teachings of PAS are deviant.

Like Tengku Adnan, its head Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii listed some of PAS’ religious rhetoric against Umno and said these have been divisive in Malaysia’s Muslim community.

These include accusations that Umno members are kafirs (infidels), and a prayer held at Kota Bharu Stadium in 2012 for Allah to smite Umno.

“PAS has to make a stand. Do they still stand by their statement declaring Umno as kafirs? Do they still stand by their prayer in the run-up for the last election for Umno to be crushed?

"Islam does not advocate praying for the demise of others - all these (prayers of) destroying Umno and destroying BN.

“If they still stand by it - I want to ask to PAS leaders - if they still stand by these statements and agree with the actions of these PAS members, that means PAS is indeed deviant.

“If they say these are not PAS’ positions, okay we can debate on what are the teachings that would not mislead other Muslims,” Razlan told a press conference today.

Instead of seeking quarrels with Tengku Adnan ( left ), PAS should instead be condemning Sibu MP Oscar Ling and his comparisons between religious schools and national-type schools, he said.

PAS has already issued an ultimatum to him to either apologise for his statement or face legal action , while PAS Federal Territories ulama chief Azhar Yahya has challenged him to a debate.

However, Razlan said Azhar and other PAS members who are vying to debate the Umno secretary-general and Federal Territories minister, to know their place before issuing such challenges.

“If PAS Federal Territories Youth Wing wants to debate Tengku Adnan, size yourself up first and make sure that your clothes fit.

“Your post is just a minor one. Don’t shame yourself by picking a debate with the Umno secretary general,” he said, adding that Umno Youth Federal Territories religious bureau chief Ahmad Baidzawi Salleh Hamdi is up to the challenge if PAS wants to debate with him.
