Selangor BN won’t budge for state allocation

 

Xtcher: In telling the press that since 2008 until today, the BN representatives have been serving the people without receiving a single sen of allocation from the Selangor government, the opposition leader is trying to show the BN reps as martyrs.

 

But I wonder whether he realises that he is also highlighting the same of the Pakatan Rakyat reps in the BN-ruled states?

 

The opposition reps in BN-held states had been serving their constituencies many years ago, much longer than the BN reps in Selangor.

 

Perhaps the people should vote in more such dedicated opposition reps in all the BN-ruled states at the next GE.

 

Korkor: Come on Selangor Opposition Leader Mohd Shamsudin Lias. BN never gave a sen to federal opposition members all these while and these members had been serving without fear or favour. You want to cry now?

 

Shame on you and BN Selangor. Go cry to BN chief Najib Abdul Razak.

 

James_3392: It’s lucky that Selangor Umno is led by Tanjung Karang MP Noh Omar. Now, the Pakatan Rakyat-led government has an extra RM200,000 per Umno assemblyperson to spend on other more meaningful projects.

 

Fairnsquare: They have the right to refuse and we should appreciate their decision, be it personal pride or whatsoever.

 

We are a democracy and making snide remarks just shows our inability to respect such decisions.

 

Mosquitobrain: Yes, Samsudin has the right to reject the allocation of RM200,000 for his constituency, and yet he prefers to take the Toyota Camry instead.

 

This is BN-Umno lawmakers mentality. They shun money that can go to the community but keep the car for themselves. Always, self-interest comes first.

 

CiViC: Those poor souls who voted for them, see how they treat their constituents? The state allocation is for the people, not for these elected reps.

 

 

Selangor slashes salaries of state cabinet, speaker

Hope 4 a Better Msia: It is disappointing that Selangor MB Azmin Ali chose to do put up this show rather than to do the real thing that matters.

 

Pay good money now, attract the best brains to the executive council and state legislative assembly, just like what Singapore did.

 

The whole exercise only saves RM1 million - it’s peanuts. One mishandled class F project can blow this savings away. In contrast, the Langat 2 water treatment plant project costs billions of ringgit.

 

Disgusted: I would rather they get paid well and don't dip into the kitty meant for the rakyat than they be paid lowly and have a side income three or five times their wages.

 

Everyone should be happy. We don't grudge hard working assemblypersons their reasonable dues.

 

People of Selangor: RM6,000 a month for a state assemblyperson? I think this salary is very low.

 

How they can survive and raise their families if they do not take bribes? Think about it.

 

Dr Suresh Kumar: This is what they say 'penny wise, pound foolish'. Save RM1.029 million and lose RM100 million through corruption and bribery. How smart is that?

 

If I were the MB, the first thing I would have done is to raise the basic salary of the state assemblypersons from RM6,000 to RM10,000, and leave the salaries of the others as it is.

 

This is to ensure the politicians will not be enticed to abuse their positions to make more money through immoral means. A very good example is the BN politicians.

 

However, if I were to catch any one of them for corruption, bribery, nepotism and cronyism, despite being paid well, that would be the end of his/her political career plus that person would be reported to the pubic first to be named and shamed before lodging a police report.

 

Anonymous #77791780: This cut is not a wise decision. You pay peanuts you get monkeys. RM1 million savings is nothing at all.

 

This will not only demoralise but also affects their level of services. The wiser move is to check on corruption. From here you can save billions.

 

Pputeh: Way to go, Azmin. Now is to show by example. All those here who say they should be paid higher should think of the rakyat.

 

The assemblypersons stood for elections in 2013 knowing what their salary would be. If they are not happy with the amount, then they should resign.

 

Secondly Azmin, if any of them even smells of corruption, please put him/her on 'the hot pan' and get rid of him/her.

 

We support you, and these assemblypersons volunteered for the post. So be it.

 

CHKS: Everybody should get a similar percentage of cut. Why is the percentage of the MB's cut in salaries the smallest?

 

Gen. Half Track: Why? Because the MB’s post carries the biggest responsibility, that's why.

 

FellowMalaysian: Overall, a sound and well balanced state official salaries. Azmin has more sense than former MB Khalid Ibrahim as the latest adopted salaries are more fairly distributed according to priorities of positions and duties.

 

Only one hiccup; the assembly speaker's salary should be higher than excos (executive councilors).

 

Anticonmen: This is so silly. You do not cut the salaries of elected representatives to show to the electorate that you are being prudent.

 

This will only attract second and third-rate people to serve. Elected representatives need to be paid well to serve.

 

In any organisation, if management is not paid reasonably well, it will breed inefficiency and corruption.
