PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad today said he will not apologise to Felda despite a RM10 million defamation suit.

 

Felda had on Nov 27, served a letter of demand on Nik Nazmi through law firm Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak.

 

It claimed that Nik Nazmi had defamed the agency after linking Felda director-general Faizoull Ahmad to a criminal wanted by Interpol.

 

Nik Nazmi, through his law firm Daim & Gamany, said today he stood by his statement.

 

"Our client is surprised that as head of public body such as Felda, your client had chosen to respond upon the criticism by issuing a letter of demand for defamation.

 

"Our client as a state assemblyperson and youth chief of Keadilan, is duty bound to raise the matter as it’s of public interest," said Nik Nazmi's lawyer.

 

Nik Nazmi had in a Facebook posting on Sept 11 criticised Faizoull for allegedly appearing along side Rafat Rizvi, who is wanted by Interpol for fraud in Indonesia.

 

He made the remarks after Scottish tabloid Daily Record released a photograph purportedly of Faizoull ( left ) and Rafat visiting Scottish football club Glasgow Rangers.

 

Later, Faizoull denied any links with Rafat, stating that he had no idea who the man was.

 

"He somehow wound up together with me and the media picked it up claiming that I know him," he was quoted as saying.

 

He also denied any plans to buy the football club, claiming that he was there to see how it could benefit Felda United FC.
