Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali, in a rare display of admiration, has praised DAP and Hindraf for their firmness in their leadership style.

Stressing how Perkasa should not be apologetic, he cited DAP's father-son duo Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng who are firm in their actions.

"They are not only firm, but brave as well.

"There are not many of them (the Chinese), but they have managed to administer one state (Penang)," said Ibrahim at his winding up speech at the Perkasa annual general meeting today.

"Malays are too apologetic. They get emotional easily, they cry easily. That's why when we admonish them it doesn't work," he added.

Citing Umno, Ibrahim said that if the rightwing Malay group continues to be apologetic, Umno will continue making the same mistakes.

"If we want them to change, we have to be firm. Look at Hindraf, there is only so many of them.

"Hindraf leader P Waythamoorthy resigned a mere few months when the demands of his race were not met.

"Do we have leaders of our race who are like that? Our leaders, when they have a small position, cannot sit still ( muka menggelabah ) - as if they don't believe that sustenance comes from God."

Former Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Waythamoorthy ( right ) had resigned from all government posts in February after the government had failed to deliver its promise to aid the Indian community.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim said that Perkasa will become a political party if its members want it to be one.

"Maybe one day we will become a political party. But it is not me who decides whether it becomes a political party or otherwise.

"If the majority of delegates support that we become a political party, then we will become one," he said.
