PAS today reiterated their stand on implementing hudud in Kelantan by slamming the statement made by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
On Sunday, Lim during the DAP annual general assembly told Pakatan Rakyat to reject the PAS move to implement hudud in the state if the coalition wants to capture Putrajaya in the next election.
Kelantan PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the implementation of hudud was part of the core elements of the party’s struggle and the state government would not back down on the issue.
“We hope the Kelantan government will not back down on this issue. In Kelantan, the hudud proposal has been presented in the state assembly since 1993, which is 15 years before the emergence of Pakatan in 2008.
“Therefore, DAP should understand the stand of PAS in the hudud issue before raising it with the other parties in the Pakatan coalition,” Ahmad Fadhli ( left ) said in a statement yesterday.
He added that Pakatan’s stand of refuting hudud was an “immature” statement and was a form of provocation towards PAS.
“In this matter, PAS should not entertain provocation. In Kelantan, the government will continue to move forward in ensuring that hudud is implemented wholly.”
Ahmad Fadhli also said that the announcement made by Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob to hold a special state assembly sitting end of this year to implement hudud in the state was very much welcomed.
