Vijay47: Unfortunately, it looks as though our worst fears have been confirmed.

 

To the families of the passengers and crew, there is nothing we can offer to console or comfort them except in our own way, to pray that the departed, when they left us, did so with least terror and pain.

 

FellowMalaysian: Thank God at least this time the bodies and wreckage have been found. Hopefully the black box can also be retrieved.

 

We have the Indonesians’ quick action to thank for a job which we can certainly learn from. One up to you, Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

David Dass: This is tragic and sad. These accidents and the floods in Terengganu and Kelantan underline the importance of us maintaining the highest standards in all the things that we do - of competence and integrity and in having the right priorities.

 

We owe it to the people to use their money in the most efficient way. Floods are a predictable occurrence. We have them every year. The question may be asked as to whether we could have prepared ourselves better.

 

It is easy to describe all our calamities as acts of God but we should hesitate before ascribing blame to the Almighty.

 

We may upset Him if we blame Him for things that we might have caused by our greedy exploitation of the Earth's resources or that which we might have averted by careful planning.

 

Spirituality should cause us to examine our consciences carefully.

AirAsia group CEO Tony Fernandez, CNN has inferred that bad weather and congested traffic at higher altitude were contributing factors.

 

Since the plane has been serviced a month ago in November, please don't feel too harshly of yourself.

 

Nonbeliever: Crisis is a medical emergency. The human mind is not a blackboard with regard to a crisis because horrible experiences of a crisis or hurt cannot be erased from the human mind. It is as if written with an indelible ink.

 

Hence, never say: (a) Never mind. (b) Let the past be the past. (c) Try not to think about it. (d) It is God's will. Not everyone believes in a god.

If you counsel using the four standard advices, you will be responsible for increasing the pain and suffering of the patient.

 

Trublumalaysian: "The search and rescue operation receives reports of a fire at an island located in the search zone for AirAsia Indonesia Flight QZ8501." Let's hope of the possibility of survivors there.

 

Sleepy: My condolences to the families of the victims. Air travel is risky, like most things in life. The issue is not whether it is risky or not, but whether the risk could have been prevented or mitigated. Again my condolences.

 

Fairplayer: Good to see there is no dilly-delaying tactics in this tragedy. God bless all in the SAR (search and rescue) teams.

AirAsia flight overshoots runway in Philippines

Sirach: AirAsia Malaysia has a spotless safety record thus far.

 

But with this mishap in its Philippines affiliate coming hot on the heels of the tragedy of its Indonesian subsidiary, one wonders if the sister companies are as well run as the Malaysian company. The AirAsia brand could suffer badly if this persists.

 

Tok Karut: AirAsia chief Tony Fernandes has to get the crew briefed properly through the ranks after the loss of QF8501.

 

The crew are encouraged to seek counselling if they need support. Please take care of your crew and they will be strong for your passengers. Sad, sad day for all AirAsia teams, I think.

 

Trublumalaysian: Fernandes is meticulous in all that he does. Very few have would have made it to his level without ensuring a mechanism for pilot expertise and plane efficiencies, given the orders of new planes.

 

Condolences to the families of those perished, and with the most fervent of hope for God's miracle for any survivors to live and tell their tale.
