Since his agriculture minister is sowing the seeds of racism, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak must extract him from the cabinet.

"Leaders have to take the lead and show courage and magnanimity.

"If we want to kick out racism from the country, we have to kick Ismail Sabri out of the Cabinet," said DAP acting national chairperson Tan Kok Wai.

On Monday, the agriculture and agro-based industries minister ignited a controversy with a Facebook post asking the Malays to boycott Chinese traders for not reducing the prices of goods.

Tan ( left ) urged Najib to act against his minister during today's cabinet meeting, failing which, he said it would be regarded that the cabinet is "collaborating with Ismail for telling lies".

While Tan took note of the police report already lodged against Ismail Sabri, he did not express much hope that further action will be taken against the minister.

“The police have not acted fairly and accordingly against the many culprits who uttered racist statements, especially those from Umno as well as pro-BN individuals.”

Citing the incident where a group of Federal Territories Umno Youth members had demonstrated in front of DAP’s headquarters and threatened to burn the building, Tan said the police - after investigating - declared that no further action will be taken against the culprits.

MCA, Gerakan to lodge reports as well

"If the police can take action against us for making non-racist remarks, then people like Ismail Sabri should be charged for criminal defamation," he pointed out.

DAP’s Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng is the latest to lodge a report against the minister today, having done so at the Dang Wangi police station on behalf of DAP.

MCA and Gerakan have also stated that they will be lodging a report against the Umno supreme council member.

Ismail Sabri ( left in photo ) - after making the incendiary statement on Monday - later clarified that he only meant “stubborn” Chinese traders.

His statement garnered support from various Umno leaders, and he had even received a hero’s welcome by his supporters at the Putra World Trade Centre yesterday.

The minister has since said that he will neither retract, nor issue an apology over his statement.
