Lim Kit Siang should advise DAP to withdraw from Pakatan Rakyat before calling for the formation of a coalition government, said Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang.

"Alternatively, he should quit DAP first and convince his son (DAP secretary-general) Lim Guan Eng to do the same if DAP still refuses to leave Pakatan.

"Otherwise, his suggestion to form a new coalition is insincere and premature," he added in a statement.

Lim had suggested that the coalition government comprise MPs from both sides of the political divide who believe in constitutionalism and rule of law.

He said such a government could be necessary to "save Malaysia" since the nation's politics is in limbo.

The DAP veteran said the present government appeared to be rudderless under Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak while Pakatan is suffering from a major crisis due to the hudud bill, which could lead to the disintegration of the opposition bloc.

However, Tan said Lim's call would be pointless if not backed up with action on his part.

"I believe Malaysians no longer wish to listen to anymore political rhetoric from DAP.

"Walk the talk before suggesting others to do the same," he added.
