Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah said he has no objections to the 'Thirst 2015: We Are All Stardust' concert, contrary to claims from the police.

 

Yesterday, Serdang district police chief Ramizi Ahmad said the police had withdrew support for holding the concert after receiving objections from “the local community and assemblyperson’s office”.

 

This is in consideration of the community’s safety and to prevent “untoward incidents” from recurring, he said, without elaboration.

 

However, Ean pointed out he is the local assemblyperson for the concert venue but neither he nor the local MP Ong Kian Ming ( left ) had any objections to the musical concert, hence the police’s statement is wrong.

 

“This unprofessional act by the police is unacceptable and I ask that the police disclose related documents to prove which assemblyperson’s office is objecting the concert,” he said in a statement today.

'Bad perception' to world

 

The concert was supposed to be held at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) last Saturday, but the organiser was told its permit was revoked a day before.

 

According to Ong, the sole reason given by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council for withdrawing the entertainment license was because the police had withdrawn its support.

 

Meanwhile, Ean said there is no firm justification for the police to withdraw their support for the international concert at the last minute, claiming that some 3,000 tickets have already been sold and the cancellation would cost millions.

 

“This incident gives a bad perception to the world and affects the image and prestige of our country,” he said.
