PAS vice-president Husam Musa has suggested that Pakatan Rakyat lawmakers table a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in the coming Parliament sitting in May.

He said this must be done with the cooperation of Umno and BN MPs as well.

Husam pointed out that while Dr Mahathir Mohamad aims to strengthen Umno, opposition lawmakers should embark on this move to save the nation from disaster with regards to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) fiasco.

"If questions backed with facts and data lobbed on a daily basis by Mahathir can be ignored by the prime minister, what more the questions and criticisms of ordinary people?" he asked.

Husam ( right ) also noted that Mahathir was in his 90s and might not live to feel the burden of the 1MDB quagmire.

"It is the new generation of Malaysians who must be more sensitive to the chasm of debt raked up in such a sport span [...]

"IMDB involves us, our children and our grandchildren more than Mahathir.

"So we must ask the same question as Mahathir, where has the money gone?" he added.

Husam also queried if the loans to 1MDB were used as part of BN’s war chest in the last general elections as Najib had not clarified the matter.

“The last elections were in 2013. Was the money borrowed by 1MDB used by BN for general election funding?

Have 1MDB 'open day'

“More doubts and queries exist when there is no transparency and proper response. Silence can bring two meanings. One of it is that the allegations and facts are true and cannot be refuted,” he said.

The Salor assemblyperson also suggested that if he has nothing to hide, the prime minister should have a ‘open day’ for 1MDB accounts to be publicly examined by everyone including Mahathir.

“Have an open day for 1MDB records to be checked by Mahathir, representatives of political parties, professionals, the media and the people.

“All the doubts can then be examined. This transparency would answer all uncertainty,” Husam added.

Husam also alleged that support for Najib from his Umno  colleagues was not consistent including that from his deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin, whom he said has chose to remain silent.

“It is strange that other Umno leaders and members only raised their support (for Najib) once or twice and then fell silent.

“It looks like the deputy prime minister is waiting for Najib to be ousted. Umno Youth are only good at shouldering ( above ) Najib in the air and then keeping quiet.

“The Umno deputy presidents have not made a collective stand or help make any explanations. Can Najib survive in such a scenario or is he just counting his days?” Husam asked.
