Launch your manifesto if you will, but do not lie to the rakyat, the BN's election director for the Permatang Pauh by-election, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said today.

In a press conference after the launch of BN's manifesto for the by-election, Zahid pointed out how PKR's previous manifestos were not implemented.

"The previous manifestos were not implemented. We are also worried that when the people of Kajang ask where their state representative is, they will be told that she is in Permatang Pauh.

"When in actuality, she is neither in Kajang nor in Permatang Pauh," said Zahid, adding that BN's candidate, Suhaimi Sabudin, would always be in the constituency.

 

Citing the BN's Teluk Intan by-election manifesto, Zahid said the BN has proved it keeps its word as what was promised to the voters of Teluk Intan was implemented.

"So, just like Teluk Intan, the same will be for Permatang Pauh," he said, adding that Suhaimi would be able to bring change to the constituency.

 

Gerakan's Mah Siew Keong defeated DAP's Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud in the Teluk Intan by-election last year, but with only a slim majority.

 

‘Let’s compare manifestos’

During the launch, Penang Umno chairperson Zainal Abidin Osman challenged PKR to launch its manifesto so that the rakyat could compare.

 

"Let the rakyat compare what Suhaimi wants to do and what Wan Azizah ( right ) wants to do. Just look at PKR's manifesto for the Kajang by-election. Until now they have not implemented anything," Zainal Abidin said.

 

Zahid, on the other hand, said should BN win the by-election, it would implement the promises made, 100 percent.

 

"Give us a chance, just for three years. Insya Allah, we will implement these promises. 

 

"If Suhaimi does not fulfil them, the people of Permatang Pauh can vote him out," Zahid said.

 

The BN's manifesto covers six aspects, which includes economy, education, health, rural well-being programmes, community development, and safety.

 

Among them, the coalition promises to provide a micro credit scheme for petty traders, build a religious secondary boarding school in the constituency, increase the number of 1Malaysia clinics in the constituency, open Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) stores and establish community policing in every housing area.
