DAP wants PAS to show proof that the party has interfered in its party elections by criticising its president Abdul Hadi Awang.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng asked PAS today whether issuing statements against Hadi amounted to “interference”.

“Umno has also made statements against PAS, and so have other parties. Please do not slander us,” Lim said at a press conference in George Town today.

“PAS often says that slandering others is a big sin, so if it keeps saying that we are interfering in the party elections, please show proof,” he added.

Lim ( photo ) said this when asked to explain why DAP leaders snubbed yesterday's offcial opening of the PAS Muktamar.

He was also asked about Dewan Ulama acting chief Mahfodz Mohamed’s accusation that DAP's 'divide and rule' strategy against PAS could dissolve political cooperation within Pakatan Rakyat.

Lim reiterated that he does not want to be “dragged” into the PAS party elections.

“Allow me to answer these questions after the PAS Muktamar,” he said.

Asked to comment on DAP being blamed for trying to engineer a split in PAS, Lim replied that “they will never blame themselves”.

Decision on future after muktamar

On whether DAP would soon decide its future with Pakatan Rakyat as its supporters are awaiting the party’s decision, Lim said his party would make a decision after the muktamar.

Last week, Lim posed five questions to Hadi, which included why Hadi broke PAS' commitment to the Pakatan common manifesto and his personal promise to consult with Pakatan leaders.

This involves Hadi wanting to table a Private Member's Bill in Parliament for hudud to be  implemented.

Lim wanted to know why Hadi expressed support for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in the midst of the RM42 billion 1MDB scandal.

He also asked why Hadi wanted to form a national unity government with Umno, and why he failed to express support for PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in the recent Permatang Pauh by-election.

Lim also asked why Hadi declared that it was an obligation for Muslims in PAS to be angry with the DAP for opposing hudud, without mentioning other Muslims, non-Muslims, Sabahans and Sarawakians who also opposed hudud.
