Newly-elected PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has shot down Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s willingness to discuss issues with PAS, saying the Islamic party will never ally itself with Umno.

Tuan Ibrahim said Najib should focus on the national’s issues, such as 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and his decreasing support from both the people and from BN supporters.

“For Najib’s information, whatever the PAS muktamar’s decisions are, the party’s stand that we will never ally with Umno remains. The syura council decided this on May 19.

“Najib should not take advantage to revive this slander against PAS. Do not try to use PAS as a distraction from issues that are more important,” Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement released today.

Utusan Online today reported that Najib expressed his party's readiness to commence talks with the Islamist party to discuss any topic for the benefit of Muslims. 

The Umno president declared that he is confident that the new PAS leadership would be more positive towards that direction.

"Umno is ready to discuss anything where we can co-operate with PAS for the benefit of the ummah (people)," Najib is quoted as saying.

Quit as finance minister, Najib urged

Yesterday, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was seen alongside Najib’s deputy, Muhyiddin Yassin, in Sabah, although both sides said their meeting was ‘coincidental’.

Tuan Ibrahim also called for Najib’s resignation as finance minister and as 1MDB adviser, to give him a chance of redeeming himself before the 14th general election.

He said Najib could not run away from the national problem, just as he ran away from the ‘Nothing to Hide’ forum last Friday.

“With such shameful incident, Najib can’t continue to hold the posts of prime minister, finance minister and 1MDB adviser simultaneously, as all sorts of investigations have been instigated against 1MDB.

“To Najib, I say: you can destroy yourself with 1MDB. But don’t destroy the whole nation with 1MDB. Its enough you destroy the people with GST, don’t you destroy future generations because of 1MDB,” Tuan Ibrahim said.
