Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has denied any possibility of the state assembly being dissolved as a result of the PAS-DAP problems and insisted that meetings were ongoing to resolve the matter.

"No, it's not the issue," he said when asked whether dissolution was on the cards.

The menteri besar, who is also PKR deputy president, was earlier asked when he would be meeting with DAP and PAS to discuss the crisis that is wearing down Pakatan Rakyat.

"We have been meeting them for the last few days.

"(We had discussed) about the whole scenario, about the future of Pakatan," he told reporters in Shah Alam.

Quizzed on the outcome of the meetings, he replied, "They are is still ongoing."

Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua ( photo ) had urged Azmin to choose which party PKR wants to cooperate with to rule the state, given that PAS has pased a motion at is muktamar to cut ties with DAP.

Pua had concurred with former PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar's call for Azmin to do so and said DAP would talk to Azmin on the matter.

Pua also did not rule out the possibility of Azmin dissolving the state assembly in the event of a hung state assembly.

Meanwhile, Azmin said Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Maximus Ongkili would deal with Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd (PNHB), which has threatened to pull out of a deal with state-owned Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.

This is after Air Selangor missed its fifth deadline to fulfil its contractual obligations.

 

"That matter was discussed with the minister (Maximus) and the minister will deal with it," he said.

Both parties agreed to finalise matters

On the meeting he had with Maximus yesterday on the restructuring of the water services industry in the state, Azmin said both parties had agreed to finalise matters pending from the water agreement as soon as possible.

Asked when would these would be finalised, Azmin said: "In one or two weeks."

As for the matters that were supposedly finalised yesterday, Azmin said among these were the master agreement.

"Several conditions precedent (CP) in the master agreement were supposed to be concluded in the first three months since September 2014, but were delayed due to several unsolved matters.

"So that took some time. But yesterday, both parties had agreed to solve them," he said.

Air Selangor - a Selangor government company - had signed papers in November last year to acquire water assets from PNHB, in a complicated deal brokered by Putrajaya.

 

In March, talks almost broke down with both Selangor and Putrajaya accusing each other of violating the terms of the contract, which has till now been kept from public scrutiny.

 

On May 20, Putrajaya announced that a new deal has been struck, with both sides pledging to fulfil their contractual obligations in 60 days.
