Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown has dismissed claims that the video clip shown by NGO Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin Malaysia proved that she and former journalist Lester Melanyi once had a close working relationship.

Rewcastle-Brown said that the video clip which showed her and Lester sitting side-by-side was from a documentary on Radio Free Sarawak by Australia's NBC.

[Video clip here ]

"The video is about Radio Free Sarawak and Peter John Jaban. There was no mention of Sarawak Report ," she told Malaysiakini .

Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin leader Ramesh Rao Naidu had used the video clip as the basis to prove that Lester was once Rewcastle's colleague.

Lester has accused Rewcastle-Brown ( photo ) of forging documents to smear 1MDB and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

However, save for one of Rewcastle-Brown's e-mail that was quoted out of context , Lester has not provided any proof apart from making public statements.

In a series of video ' confessions ', Lester had also accused opposition figures of being involved in document forgery for the same purpose.

These allegations have had far reaching implications.

Thus far, Petaling Jaya Utara Tony Pua MP, Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli and The Edge Media Group owner Tong Kooi Ong have been slapped with travel bans while police have announced a probe into Lester's allegations.
