Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan has denied calling for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to be arrested.

Responding to an audio recording on the matter highlighted by Suara TV, he denied that it was his voice.

"I strongly deny the baseless allegation by certain quarters that the audio recording about Najib that is going viral on social media, uploaded by an individual, is my voice.

"I stress that I have nothing to do with the audio recording or the person who supposedly made the confession (in the audio)," he added in a statement today.

Attempt to sow discord

The man in the audio recording added the rakyat now are not easily fooled, unlike his father's generation, adding that his father was a teacher with only a Standard 5 qualification.

However, Mohamad said this was a factual error and was further evidence that the man in the audio recording was not him.

"My father was not a teacher," said Mohamad.

He added the audio recording being falsely attributed to him appears to be an attempt to sow discord.

"Those making this claim has ill intention against me, trying to confuse the rakyat and trying to pit Umno and government leaders against each other," he said.

The allegation emerged two days after Muhyiddin was dropped as deputy prime minister for criticising Najib's handling of 1MDB.

According to the audio recording, a man was heard as supporting former deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin's concerns about 1MDB.

"What Muhyiddin said was right, his statement at Cheras, Muhyiddin said why weren't those guilty or suspected arrested.

"They arrested the innocent. This matter, people said Najib is responsible, so arrest Najib."
