It is understood that Jessica's lawyers had sent a letter to the Immigration Department director-general yesterday seeking answers to her PR status as to whether it had been revoked.
Last night Malay Mail Online reported that Immigration Department director-general Mutafa Ibrahim had responded when asked if his department had revoked Jessica's PR status.
“For the time being, we have not come out with any statement regarding the case,” said Mutafa.
A source close to Jessica told Malaysiakini today they are awaiting an official reply from Mustafa following her lawyers' letter sent yesterday.
Till then, they cannot comment on her status despite what the DG had said.
What Mustafa said slightly contradicted with what his deputy Sakib Kusmi had said earlier in that Jessica won't be deported although her PR status had been revoked.
He said she can apply for a special or social visit pass as she is married to a Malaysian.
Explosive affidavit
It was reported on Thursday that Jessica had her contract with the attorney-general’s chambers terminated and had her PR status revoked. This was despite her staying in Malaysia for over 20 years.
Jessica, was head of administration and finance at the chambers had also served as secretariat for the special task force investigating 1MDB which was under then attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail.
She, along with former MACC adviser Rashpal Singh, were picked up ( photo ) by the police on July 31, following allegations of the leak of a draft criminal charge sheet for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Following her termination, Jessica was said to be preparing to file a judicial review and an explosive affidavit to challenge her dismissal and the revoking of her PR status.
Newly-appointed attorney-general Mohamad Apandi Ali denied any discrepancy in terminating her contract saying it was done according to the terms of her contract.
It remains to be seen whether Jessica will file a judicial review and the accompanying affidavit.
