DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has dismissed his former party man, Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim for claiming the Bersih 4 rally was a show of Chinese disdain against Malays.

He urged Tunku Abdul Aziz to consider former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s present at the two-day rally in Kuala Lumpur.

So, what muscle is Mahathir flexing, because he, too, attended the rally," Lim said at a press conference in Komtar today.

Tunku Abdul Aziz was quoted by the New Straits Times yesterday as describing the Bersih 4 as a calculated attempt by the mostly Chinese participants to hurt the feelings of the Malays during National Day on Aug 31.

"On the first day (of the rally), there were 20 percent Malays who attended the rally, and on the second day, there was 40 percent, is he (Tunku Abdul Aziz) also going to say that this 40 percent are flexing their muscle against the non-Malays?" Lim queried.

"At the (the first) Bersih rally in 2007, the majority of the participants were Malays, so why didn’t he say the same?" Lim asked.

Seditous remark

Lim said Tunku Abdul Aziz is being seditious when he said that the Chinese community never identified with the National Day or the country’s independence.

However, he believes no action will be taken against Tunku Abdul Aziz (picture) .

He claims it is part of a ploy to distract the public from the corruption allegations against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

"They will allow whatever incredible, ridiculous, extremist and racist remarks, lies even just to distract from issue of the day," Lim said.

Najib is under fire after whistleblower website Sarawak Report exposed he received RM2.6 billion in his personal bank account.

He later admitted to it, but said it was donation from a Middle Eastern donor but denied it was for personal use.

But Lim said even local organisations know never to put donations into personal bank accounts.

"How come a mosque committee chairman or hungry ghost festival committee chairman can understand this simple logic?" Lim asked.

"An ordinary person who is not a PM knows his wrong but the PM himself does not know it," he added.
