PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail spent two hours in meeting a Selangor Islamic Department (Jais) officer to submit an affidavit by her husband, Anwar Ibrahim, during which she was also questioned on her qazaf application.

She arrived at the Jais office in Shah Alam about 10.25am and came out at about 12.35pm. Wan Azizah was accompanied by her lawyer, Fadhillah Siddique.

"I had to come here to submit the affidavit on behalf of my husband since the prison authorities do not allow him to do so himself, nor allow his lawyers to meet with him.

"‎Therefore, I have to submit this affidavit and was questioned by the officer. It is up to Jais to take further action," she said.

Wan Azizah and Anwar had lodged a qazaf (bearing false witness) complaint against Umno-linked prosecutor Muhammad Shafee Abdullah on a claim made by the senior lawyer at a dialogue in Kelana Jaya soon after the PKR de facto leader was convicted of Sodomy II.

It was reported that Anwar filed a qazaf report on June 26 against Shafee who led the Sodomy II prosecution team on.

"This report was made based on Shafee’s accusation that Anwar committed sodomy but the lawyer did not produce four witnesses as demanded by the law," Wan Azizah had said during the filing.

Qazaf is defined as the wrongful accusation of adultery or homosexuality against a Muslim man or woman without producing four witnesses as required under syariah law.

Anwar's qazaf report is being investigated under Section 36 of Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment (Selangor) 1995.

Wan Azizah said she submitted the affidavit and was asked several questions about it.

“They took a long time as the officer in Jais had problems with his printer,” she said.
